Special Olympics Surrey Ten Pin Bowling Squad start Christmas off with their own special party

December 17, 2008

The Special Olympics Surrey Ten Pin Bowling Squad start Christmas off with their own special party at the Tolworth Bowl . Parents and friends made cakes and bought in mince pies, sweeties and party hats to set the scene. At the end of the evening all the athletes were presented with a full size ten pin which was to congratulate them all for working so hard in training.

As from January the national squad will be working even harder. When they go to the nationals in July they could be playing three or four games per day which means they must be fit and the concentration levels have to be spot on. With this thought in mind, the branch secretary has organised, in conjunction with the David Lloyd Centre, monthly training sessions in the exclusive five-lane corporate ten pin bowling centre which is within David Lloyd. They will be given exercises to do by a personal trainer for 10 minutes prior to each session which will help all the bowlers bend their legs and strenghten back muscles (a vital element in ten pin bowling). It will be hard work but very enjoyable.

Kyle Lindie from St Philips School makes it through to the Special Olympics National Games in Leicester in July 09 at ten pin bowling. He was heartily welcomed on board at the Christmas Ten Pin Party. Kyle is also showing that he is determinded to also be a Special Olympic Surrey skier and goes training at Sandown Ski School on a Sunday.
