December 2, 2008
Special Olympics Surrey Athlete Jonathan Frett was invited to perform the opening ceremony at the new Lloyds TSB branch in Kingston on the 29th November. Jonathan was asked to the branch after Lloyds TSB heard of his wonderful achievement of being picked as part of the Special Olympics GB World Ski Team that is going to America on the 1st february for 16 days.
Jonathan has been invited back to the bank on Wednesday 3rd December to an official reception and will have the opportunity of seeing the 1948 official Olympics Torch. He says he is going to rub the torch and hope the genie comes out so that he can put it in his pocket and take him to the World Ski Championships.
Also invited to this event was Alex Groves, aged 16 from Surbiton who hopes to compete in the 2012 Olympics in sailing. Jack Binstead aged 12 from Kingston is hoping to make the 2012/2016 Paralympics as a wheelchair racer andJonathan Smith aged 16 from Kingston is also hoping to make the 2012 Paralympics also as a Wheelchair Racer
